My favorite run

It has been an unseasonably warm winter in NYC and even though the leaves haven't come out yet, its been nice and dry enough to go on my favorite run around Central Park (Northern Bridle path-->Bridle path-->Central Park Reservoir=1.6miles. Well... had to stop and snap a quick pic on the iPhone, too.

The craze about Beauty Boxes

UPDATE: Birchbox just started accepting orders for their subscriptions. Go here to sign up!

My friend told me about  these amazing little delights that are all the craze in the UK which are slowly making their way to the US. And, being the Sephora junkie that I am, I couldn't help but investigate further. These packages called "beauty boxes" arrives  to your mailbox as per a monthly subscription as low as $10. It's packed with several deluxe -size samples of beauty products of brands that you may or may not have heard of. There are a myriad in UK and France, including... Carmine, Feelunique.comJolie Box, and Bourdoir Prive which gives subscribers a chance to try a wide range of beauty products such as hair products, skin care, cosmetics, even men's lines!

Good news for those with a five-digit zip code, Birchbox and Glossybox will be starting to ship to US customers soon and they are taking down names!

#Strangetrees

One of the ways that an avid iPhoneography can get their work out there (in a fun way) is through Instagram's Weekend hashtag project. Every Friday, Instagram challenges their users to a weekend homework assignment, taking inspiration from subject matters as quirky  #soloparking or rote as #reflective. All you have to do is snap a picture based on your interpretation of the assignment and caption the photo with the hashtag subject line. Then, ten photos are selected on Monday morning to be featured on the website. Last weekend's challenge was called #strangetrees and it really just fell into my lap, having encountered a very strange-looking piece of art just the day before!
This was just about the most beautiful metal peace tree I've ever seen (reminds me of a necklace that I own) and I couldn't resist snapping a few shots. (Instagram'd this photo)
From the branches viewpoint.

Though I submitted my strange tree but didn't end up getting featured on the site, here are some of my favorites out of the "chosen".

Park Avenue Foodies

Ah, to be young and live in NYC and enjoy a two hour lunch break at work... why? All in the name of Restaurant Week! Conveniently located a few short blocks from my workplace is a lovely Park Ave establishment called Park Avenue Winter. The restaurant changes with the seasons and the local produce to feature some of the scrumptious culinary delights! For mere pennies (..sort of), we dined like queens! It was a lovely wintery feast with my workmates.

On the lunch menu today was...

APPETIZER: The Park Avenue Winter Seared Scallop “Sandwich”-delicious bacon crumbles and diced potatoes up top of thinly seared scallops and a perfectly buttered toast

ENTREE: Berkshire Pork Chop, Cider Roasted Quince -deliciously seared, with yummy brussel shavings

DESSERT: Toasted Rice Panna Cotta with Golden Pineapple -veeerrry pineappley.....not the biggest fan, but I had to do it for the Cotta!

Downton Style

To pay homage to my new show of the moment, Downton Abbey, (which was also so eloquently reviewed by my friend over at Pop Culture Scribe), I'm going to pull a 1997 fan-page entry and post several pictures of favorite fashion styles from the show... (many were taken from this site). Oh, to live in the 1920s....

I am also mercilessly finding ways to procure the 2nd season on DVD since American PBS refuses to air the episodes in any timely fashion.
